SF Lighthouse for the Bind and Visually Impaired
Youth Services

Creating a level playing field in life for blind and visually impaired youths is an awesome task. We've heard it said before "it takes a village…." well this "village" is the SF Lighthouse for the Blind & Visually Impaired Youth Services.

Building confidence, character, coordination, competitiveness, respect and responsibility starts with an attitude and working with people who care. The sport of Judo is one of those tools for building those characteristics. It is one of the activities of the Lighthouse and their summer Enchanted Hills Camp.

Gold Medals won at the Olympics were by two visually impaired Paralympians at the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia. Gold for the US (Sighted) Olympic Judo Team has never been won since Judo was introduced at the Olympics in 1964 except by a Paralympian.

Practicing the skills of Judo transcends all areas of life and builds the confidence needed to be a member of "the village". Future employers look for confidence along with character in the skills that have been developed with the help and staff of the Lighthouse.

Commit to joining "the village" at the SF Lighthouse for building those skills needed in life.
